  • In my spare time

    I forgot how much time is eaten up when you are working full time! With Sixty 40 as well as my drawing classes, I barely have time to breath … sigh …

    When I do get some free drawing time, I’ve been helping out a friend over at Deviant art;

    http://captainevil.deviantart.com/

    He is making a Sonic the Hedgehog fan fiction comic called ‘War of hearts’. I am supplying the cover art and chapter posters, all are posted in Captain evil’s gallery at Deviant art, (link above).

    Below are some that have been completed …

  • Character design

    Here is a caricature I did for a writer in a woman’s magazine. It was not used. The client decided to go with a photo instead. The style and pose was based on the opening title animation from “Bewitched”.

  • Busy is as busy does!

    WOW!

    This hasn’t happened for a long time. I’m so busy, I barely have time to think. Sixty 40 is working me like a dog, (but I love it!), several clients that have been absent for months have now resurfaced, and there are a couple of projects in the works that I’ve promised to give time to. “!!!!”

    There have been a couple of images uploaded to my deviant art site, here

    My artist group, Talented and Unemployed, is going steady, here

    AND … there are still positions available for my drawing classes, so if you are in the Wollongong area of NSW, Australia, contact me for more information.

  • As seen on ….

    Well I managed to get my old 1999 short film, “Kitty Littered” into some form of workable format and sent it to Channel Frederator. Frederator is a web based animation podcast. Each week they gather together several animated shorts and post them for the world to download and watch for free. I subscribed through iTunes for free.

    “Kitty Littered” was picked up straight away and is now playing on episode 76 of Channel Frederator! I also did a short interview which will be in the Frederator blog here.

    Check out Channel Frederator here

    Additional: I’ve updated my resume.

  • Drawing lessons now available

    I now offer drawing lessons for all ages. They will take place at my home and I will try to suit your needs with availability, (freelance work deadlines pending).

    The lessons will focus on a basis of animation, (that is construction of characters and models), rather than free form ‘doodling’ that most Cartoonist use. My background is in animation, a fact that I’m proud of, and therefore wish to pass on the correct techniques of drawing, not just the quick fix methods found in store bought drawing books.

    An initial meeting will take place before the first lesson. This is where I will be looking at examples of the student’s level of ability, asking about interests and what they are hoping to get out of the experience. From this information I will be able to plan out future lessons that will be catered to each individual.

    Lessons could cover the areas;

    * Beginners drawing class

    * Drawing existing characters, (Fan art)

    * Anime / Manga

    * Development of student’s characters

    * Comics

    * Beginner animation class

    I”m offering two options for the one hour long lessons;

    Option 1: $25 per hour. There is the possibility that there will be up to three students attending this session.

    Option 2: $50 per hour. This is a one on one lesson. I will focus all of my time on the student.

    For more information, or to book a lesson, email Evan at enewby_au@yahoo.com

  • Sixty 40 air date!

    One of the  jobs that I’ve been working on for Sixty 40 is their “Edugandapanda show”, a series of short 30 second cartoons.

    Another job I worked on at Sixty 40 is the opening titles to Sony BMG’s new show “Music Jungle”. The titles incorporate cardboard cut out animation, 2d animation, (done by yours truly), 3d animation AND puppetry! That’s in the opening titles alone … prepare to be gobsmacked.

    Miraculously, these two jobs have been fused into one. The Edugandapanda show will be playing as part of Music Jungle! The first episode airs on March 31 at 10:30am on channel nine, (Australia), and then every following Saturday at the same time.

    Here is a pic from Edugandapanda ”Scorpion death grip”
