  • Toy Sale

Recently Kmart here in Australia had a huge toy sale. Sixty40 produced a 30 second commerical to advertise the sale. Even though the tvc is 3D with live action kids, I was able to participate with some 2D elements. Some of the 3D toys had 2D animated texture eyes. The crowd in the stands were also 2D loops drawn and animated in Flash. Crowd toy design by Evan Newby. Crowd animation by Antonio Artese and Evan Newby.

  • Fit kids

On occasion I still do the odd freelance job, like this one for the South Coast Gymnastic association. They wanted some characters to promote their program for younger children in a sort of Dora the explorer style.

My second job was to create additional images that were to be used in a give away coloring book,

  • Music Jungle

Another job I did at Sixty40 many months ago was the titles for a music program called Music Jungle. The program airs on Saturday mornings on a free to air channel in Australia.

The title is broken up into four different styles as the monkey character makes his way through them. First is a cut out puppet style, (done completely in comp), second is live action with a puppet (some additional animated birds by me), third is 3D, and finally 2D animation (by me).

  • Super promo

Playing now on Channel V, (Australian cable television) and on the Channel V web site (www.channelv.com.au) is a promotional add I worked on, (at Sixty40), for a show called Presenter Playlist. The show is airing on Saturdays at 11am.

The story of the promo is that the five presenters are in suspended animation (live action) at the Channel V music vault, when some bad guys break in. We zoom into each of the presenter’s dream world (animation), where they are called into action via a ‘V’ signal in the sky. As the presenter’s head back to the real world their super powers kick in. Back in reality, (live action), the bad guys are dealt with the music is safe and the V team are victorious.

Although I didn’t animate a lot of this promo, I was given the role of designing the characters, drawing all the key poses, roughing out the animation and supervising the animated sequence.

    Here is a final design for the animated presenters and a few pose sketches which are all copyright to Sixty40 and Channel V;

  • Psycho Teddy

Psycho teddy was originally a character in Sixty40′s ‘Ring tone deathmatch’, but was redeveloped into a ring tone and video clip. It’s initial purpose was to rival some of the more popular Crazy Frog or Gummy Bear ring tones.

In my video section you can see an animatic that I made for the video clip. The final video can be seen on Youtube, (I animated several of the emoticons in the background)

This video clip has gone crazy in the Asian markets. The full song has appeared on compilation albums along side major recording artists and is still selling units today

  • The Eduganda Panda Show Show

That’s right I don’t have a speech impediment, it’s the Eduganda Pand Show Show, (EPSS). Due to the popularity of the Eduganda Panda Show, (thirty nine 30 second shorts), Sixty 40 has completed an eleven minute pilot for a proposed series that is a show about the Eduganda Panda show. The EPSS shows behind the scenes of the 30 second show, as well as Panda’s life outside the show.

I animated several characters in the pilot, as well as supervising all the animators, (Michael Dunn, Antonio Artese and Pia Salenga). I also assisted with the character design and produced the model sheets, turnarounds and mouth charts for the show.

  • Bee grumpy

Eaton Gorge Theatre Company,http://www.eatongorgetheatreco.com.au/ , asked me to design a bee character based on one of their actors in costume. I did several sketches, starting at a cartoony version, through to one that was closer to the actor’s characteristics.

  • Concept images

The first image is a design of prostitutes for SPAA. I animated three web cartoons designed to promote ways not to find funding for your film ideas.

The next two images are from a proposed children’s cartoon series called Jungle Jack. The show was originally going to be live action with actors in suits, but changed to a fully animated show. As far as I know the show has never gone into production.

All images are copyright to Sixty40.
